# Initiatives

Initiatives are structured, time-bound programs that run on top of the μLearn protocol designed to create specific real-world outcomes. Your Karma determines your eligibility. Your Proof of Work determines your standing.

The core protocol μID, Karma, PoW, Interest Groups, Learning Circles creates the infrastructure. Initiatives create the **moments of concentrated impact.** Hiring events. Innovation sprints. Leadership programs. Community gatherings. These are the programs that turn infrastructure into outcomes where consistent contributors get access to real-world opportunities they've earned.

### <mark style="color:$primary;">What Makes an Initiative Different from Regular μLearn Activity</mark>

Regular μLearn activity is continuous you earn Karma, level up, build your profile, explore domains. There is no deadline, no cohort, no finish line.

An initiative is time-bound. It has:

* A specific start and end date
* A specific audience and eligibility criteria
* A specific outcome a job, an internship, a product, a recognition
* A specific validation panel peers, mentors, companies, or all three

You don't just participate in an initiative. You perform in one.

### <mark style="color:$primary;">How Initiatives Use the μLearn Protocol</mark>

Every initiative is built on top of the same protocol infrastructure:

<table><thead><tr><th width="219">Protocol Layer</th><th>How the Initiative Uses It</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>μID</strong></td><td>Identity verification and participant tracking</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Karma</strong></td><td>Eligibility threshold and participant ranking</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Proof of Work</strong></td><td>Contribution evidence and output validation</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Interest Groups</strong></td><td>Community activation and domain-specific participation</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Learning Circles</strong></td><td>Execution units for collaborative initiative tasks</td></tr></tbody></table>

The initiative adds its own specific logic, timeline, and outcome on top. The protocol handles everything underneath.

### <mark style="color:$primary;">Who is Involved in an Initiative</mark>

<table><thead><tr><th width="217">Stakeholder</th><th>Their Role</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Learners</strong></td><td>Participants build, compete, contribute</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Campus Nodes</strong></td><td>Local activation and mobilisation</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Partners</strong></td><td>Problem setters, mentors, opportunity providers</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Core Team</strong></td><td>Design, coordination, quality assurance</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Outcomes</strong></td><td>Jobs, internships, products, research, recognition</td></tr></tbody></table>

### <mark style="color:$primary;">The Initiative Directory</mark>

μLearn runs multiple initiatives across the year. Each one has a dedicated page in [Initiatives Directory](/initiatives/initiatives-directory.md) with full details what it does, who it's for, how to participate, and what outcomes it produces.

### <mark style="color:$primary;">How to Access Initiatives</mark>

Initiatives are not open applications. They are earned access. Your Karma threshold determines eligibility. Your PoW history determines your standing. Your μID is your entry credential. You don't apply to be noticed. You build until you are.

Manual Intervention: Some initiatives require manual verification of eligibility or output. [Contact Us](https://mulearn.org/contact) if you encounter issues with your application or submission.
