# Mentor Verification

Mentor verification allows eligible users to unlock mentor-specific features within μLearn.

After completing the mentor onboarding process, your account is created as a mentor. However, mentor management features remain unavailable until your mentor application has been reviewed and approved by a platform administrator.

### Applying for Mentor Verification

To begin the verification process, open the **Home** page of the Mentor Dashboard and complete the **Apply to Become a Mentor** form.

| **Preferred Interest Groups** | Select at most three Interest Groups in which you would like to mentor learners. |

### Application Review

After submitting your application, your mentor account enters the **Pending Verification** stage.

During this period:

* Your application is reviewed by a platform administrator.
* Your mentor profile remains under verification.
* You can continue using μLearn while waiting for the review.
* Mentor-specific management features remain unavailable until your application is approved.

The dashboard displays a notification indicating that your application has been submitted and is awaiting approval.

### After Approval

Once your application has been approved, your account is upgraded to a **Verified Mentor**.

After verification:

* Your mentor status is updated.
* Mentor-specific management features become available.
* A new **Management** section appears in the dashboard sidebar.
* You can begin mentoring learners, managing sessions, reviewing task requests, and participating in mentor activities.

You'll also see mentor-specific information and statistics on your Home dashboard.

### Mentor Scopes

After your mentor application is approved, you will be verified under one of the following mentor scopes based on your role and approval process.

#### Interest Group (IG) Mentor

This is the default mentor scope. When you sign up as a mentor, you become an **Interest Group (IG) Mentor** and mentor learners within your assigned Interest Groups.

#### Campus Mentor

A **Campus Mentor** is selected by a Campus Lead to mentor and guide learners within a specific campus.

#### Company Mentor

If you provide your company details while applying as a mentor, your application is reviewed by the corresponding **Company and Admin**. Once approved, you become a **Company Mentor** and mentor learners with the company affliation.

> **Note:** Your mentor scope determines the context in which you mentor learners. Regardless of the mentor scope assigned, all mentors complete the same mentor verification process before mentor-specific features become available.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mulearn.org/how-to-use-the-platform/mentor/mentor-verification.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
